At Lifestream, we've believed in the power of nature to support wellbeing for more than 45 years. Since introducing New Zealand's first Spirulina supplement in 1980, we've remained committed to creating plant-based nutrition that supports both personal health and the health of our environment.
Today, we're proud to announce that Lifestream has officially joined the Sustainable Business Network (SBN) as an Impact Investor.
As Aotearoa New Zealand's largest sustainable business organisation, SBN brings together hundreds of businesses and organisations committed to building a more sustainable future through collaboration, innovation and practical action. Their mission is to accelerate New Zealand's transition towards an equitable, regenerative and circular economy by helping businesses learn, connect and take meaningful action.
For us, becoming part of SBN is a natural extension of the journey we've been on for decades.
Sustainability has always been part of who we are
From responsibly sourcing our ingredients to continually improving our packaging, sustainability has long been a guiding principle at Lifestream.
In recent years we've taken important steps to reduce our environmental impact, including transitioning many of our supplement bottles to renewable sugarcane plastic, using recyclable and responsibly sourced packaging materials where possible, and continually reviewing our operations to identify opportunities for improvement.
Joining the Sustainable Business Network gives us the opportunity to learn from like-minded organisations, access leading sustainability expertise, and continue challenging ourselves to do better.
Looking ahead
As an SBN Impact Investor, Lifestream will have access to sustainability training, industry collaboration, practical tools and resources, and a nationwide network of businesses working towards a more sustainable Aotearoa. Through our membership, we're also supporting SBN's work driving positive change across climate, waste and nature initiatives.
Additionally, our membership contributes directly to nature regeneration through SBN's Connect for Nature programme. Five percent of our SBN Impact Investor annual fee is donated to support nature regeneration projects. This was a key initiative we were particularly excited to support, as we already have plans to begin tree planting alongside local communities this year. By joining SBN, we look forward to learning from their expertise and strengthening our impact in nature regeneration.
While we're proud of the progress we've made, we know sustainability is an ongoing journey – not a destination. We look forward to learning, collaborating and sharing our progress as we continue working towards creating products that support both human health and the wellbeing of our planet.
